High Commissioner Commends Koungoussi Health Workers for Their Role in Health Sovereignty

Ouagadougou: The High Commissioner of Bam Province, Karim Ouedraogo, praised the commitment and dedication of the 223 health workers in the Kongoussi health district in defending Burkina Faso’s health sovereignty. This acknowledgment was made during the eighth monthly raising of the national colors at the Medical Center with Surgical Unit (CMA).

According to Burkina Information Agency, Karim Ouedraogo emphasized that health workers, across all categories, are strategic actors in social cohesion and embody the presence of the State among the population. He remarked, “Your role goes beyond the medical sphere: you embody the resilience, solidarity, and continuity of the State on the ground,” urging the health workers to maintain their efforts with discipline, ethics, and patriotism.

The High Commissioner also underscored the significance of the Presidential Health Initiative, aiming to reform the health system to enhance accessibility, equity, and resilience. He highlighted the daily contributions of health workers, such as vaccination, maternal and child health, and free emergency care, as fundamental components of this reform.

The Chief Medical Officer of the Kongoussi Health District, Dr. Arzouma Idrissa Ouedraogo, expressed gratitude to the Kongoussi High Commission for recognizing the health workers’ efforts. He urged the community to increase their vigilance in preventing malaria, especially during the current resurgence of the disease.

As a reminder, the High Commission has instituted this rotating flag-raising ceremony across various provincial directorates and educational institutions. The next ceremony is set for October 7 in the Kongoussi central schools.
