Government wants to reinforce commitment to ecotourism in the most rural and agricultural islands

The Minister of Tourism and Transport said today that the Government wants to bet on ecotourism as the niche that has all the weight for this diversification in the more rural and agricultural islands.

Carlos Santos was speaking during a hearing at Parliament’s Specialized Committee on Economy, Environment and Territorial Planning, regarding the approval of the State Budget for 2023.

“The so-called more rural islands and more agricultural islands, such as Santo Antão, São Nicolau, Fogo and Santiago, are the ones we want to give priority to at the moment. Obviously, without forgetting the investments in the two biggest islands of tourism that are Sal and Boa Vista”, he said.

Carlos Santos also said that the sustainability of tourism requires that we always take care of these islands, under penalty of jeopardizing the product, the name of Cape Verde and then compromising everything.
