Reading the judgement, in which the Public Prosecutor's Office (MP) was a participant, the Criminal Chamber of this higher court ruled that Alceu Olegário Alexandre António will pay 70,000 kwanzas in court fees and one million kwanzas in compensation to the victim Olindio Ginga. According to the rapporteur of the case, Counsellor Judge Anabela Valente, the amount of compensation can be paid in instalments. The judge said that they decided to suspend the sentence, 'because we take into account the personality that the defendant has shown by repenting for the act committed and the fact that age is the best school in life'. 'If five years ago he behaved in that way, today, with more maturity and life experience, he certainly won't commit the same act again,' the judge said. However, dissatisfied with the judgement, lawyer Wilson Fernandes said that the decision was not as it should have been, 'because the court overlooked certain situations such as the answering of questions'. According to the lawyer, the court did not recognise any of the questions as proven or unproven. He said that the team of lawyers will sit down to analyse the pros and cons and then decide whether or not to appeal. The trial began on 19 August and included five declarants in a case whose facts date back to 12 January 2019. The case was reported by counsellor judge Anabela Valente, and deputized by counsellor judges Inácio Paixão and Domingos Mesquita. The Public Prosecutor's Office was represented by Lucas Ramos dos Santos and the defendant's defence was composed of lawyers Wilson Fernandes and Laurindo João Muhongo. Alceu António, 41, was accused of shooting a citizen on the public highway after being involved in an argument with a motorbike taxi driver.
