Football/Fogo: States of emergency and calamity prevented the holding of the elective assembly of the ARFF new governing bodies

The general assembly of the Fogo Regional Football Association (ARFF) clarified that in the year in which an elective assembly should take place it was declared states of emergency and calamity which prevented its realization.

In a note signed by the chairman of the ARFF general assembly, Euclides Fernandes, entitled “current situation of the Fogo Regional Football Association”, he told that questions have been raised about the legality of the current management and other bodies and with the note intends to provide clarifications.

In the document distributed to clubs affiliated at the ARFF, the manager acknowledges that “effectively the mandate of the governing bodies is two years” and justifies the non-holding of the assembly last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the establishment of states of emergency and calamity.

The same note also states that the statute is omisiable in the matter as to the non-holding of elections in case of force majeure and thus a general assembly will be scheduled to deal specifically with this aspect.
