Fogo: Livestock farmer loses almost 50 percent of his herd due to attack of stray dogs

The livestock farmer from the village of Brandão, less than five kilometres from the city, lost almost 50 percent (%) of his herd due to attack of stray dogs.

The livestock farmer who left his herd late on Thursday afternoon, August 26, in his corral, came across this morning with the damage as the dogs killed five goats and injured about eight animals, which due to the severity of injuries will hardly survive.

Among the dead and injured animals, the livestock farmer lost at once half of his herd of goat cattle, the only means of survival for him and his family, since he has no other source of income.

This attack of stray dogs takes place at a time when the City Hall of São Filipe has underway a campaign to register pets (dogs and cats) and castration, including stray dogs and no owners which roam the streets of the city, but also in the countryside.
