The 2022 agricultural year presents different scenarios on the island level and in some localities farmers are holding the second weeding and others to throw seed to the ground with the rains of the weekend.
In potentially agricultural localities, such as the Northern area of the municipality of São Filipe and high areas of Mosteiros where sowing occurred after the rains of June 20, as noted by Inforpress, the plants have a good vegetative development and some species of beans, such as the ‘sapatinha’, are in the flowering phase.
The farmer Luciano Silva, from Atalaia, Northern area of the municipality of Mosteiros, told Inforpress that the scenario of the agricultural year is encouraging and at this moment there are still sowing, namely sapatinha bean, peanuts.
In some localities farmers who did not sowing last June for fear of losing seeds are now facing more difficulties with sowing due to the growth of straw in agricultural parcels, but even so several farmers contacted on Sunday in the middle of the agricultural work were hopeful of a “good agricultural year”.
