Filomena Fortes elected Vice-president of the Association of Francophone National Olympic Committees

The president of the Cabo Verdean Olympic Committee (COC), Filomena Fortes, was elected on Thursday to the Vice-president of the Association of Francophone National Olympic Committees (AFCNO), in elections held at a distance, during the elective General Assembly of the organization.

With this election, AFCNO is now managed by a new governing body led by Gabon Olympic Committee President Djermah Abakar, passing Filomena Fortes from Cabo Verdean Olympic Committee to Vice-president, while Mariem Tall Kane from the Mauritania Olympic Committee was elected second Vice-president.

According to information provided to the press by the COC, Jean-Pierre Siutat from the French Olympic Committee will be in charge for the portfolio of the Secretary-General and André Aboughe from the Gabon Olympic Committee as treasurer.

These elections, explains the COC note, are held by candidacy for office and Filomena Fortes was the most voted in the category of Vice-president with three candidates for only two seats.
