The Indomitable Lions have lost two places in the July 2024 FIFA ranking, regressing to the 51st position which they occupied in the June classification. Cameroon's 4-1 victory and 1-1 draw in the World Cup qualifiers played in early June against Cape Verde and Angola respectively, previously gave the lions a two-place surge. It was one of Marc Brys' first accomplishments as head coach of the Indomitable Lions after two matches. The recent decline which has hit several other African countries was caused by the two continental competitions, UEFA EURO and Copa America, during which African teams were inactive. Africa's leader Morocco, dropped from the 12th to the 14th spot. The only remarkable progress made by African teams came from Equatorial Guinea, gaining two places, then Angola and DR Congo, each moving a place up. Copa America champions, Argentina, retained their first position, followed by EURO semi-finalists France and winners Spain, then England and Brazil. Belgium dropped to the 6th spot losing their third place. Source: Cameroon News Agency
