EU and Cape Verde reiterated the importance of the partnership in the current geopolitical context

The European Union (EU) and Cape Verde reiterated their “strong commitment” with regard to shared values and the common agenda of the Special Partnership, stressing the importance of partnership in the current geopolitical context.

These claims are set out in the joint declaration for the 12th meeting of political dialogue at ministerial level between the European Union and Cape Verde, which met this Tuesday, in Praia, under the supervision of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs and Minister of Immigration and Asylum of Luxembourg, Jean Asselborn.

“The partners reaffirmed their attachment to respect for human rights, democracy, good governance and the rule of law, as well as their commitment to multilateralism and an international order based on rules”, says the document, which Inforpress had access to.

With regard to the current geopolitical context and the situation in Eastern Europe, the partners reaffirmed their commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity and deplored the Russian Federation’s aggression.

However, they recognize the disruptions caused by the war in trade flows and value chains, which have put pressure on markets, producers and consumers around the world and threaten the food security of vulnerable populations in many regions of the world.
