Two people were killed and two severely injured by wild flames at a place called Hongkong City in Mabanda, Douala IV sub-division on Sunday, January 28, 2024. Both injured victims are battling for their lives at the Bonassama District Hospital while the remains of the deceased victims have been deposited in the morgue of the health institution. Sources say they heard a loud explosion in a bakery, accompanied by flames that was already extending to nearby houses. While inhabitants struggled to contain the flames, others alerted firefighters who arrived and took almost three hours to put out the fire. Material damage was estimated at millions of FCFA.
