Over 100 victims of a demolition project they described as unjust by a certain Mme Endelle in July 2024 at New Bell Cemitiere in the Douala II municipality have expressed a sigh of relief. Relief that came as a result of favorable statements made by the SDO of the Wouri Division who summoned the victims and mme Endelle claiming ownership of the land measuring four hectares, for a concertation meeting. 'The SDO who went down to the field and took stock of the situation openly told the lawyer who represented Mme Endelle , he is disappointed at them for causing such a cruel and unjust demolition to fellow Cameroonians leaving them homeless. After keen verification of the three land documents presented by the lawyer, the SDO shook his head when he noticed they summed up to 1.80 hectares whereas the documents talk of 2 hectares. Worst of it all the demolition covered four hectares.' A victim from the meeting recounted. Representative of the said woman denied to the SDO his client did not carry out the demolitio n on the land. He however remained dormant when the Wouri prefect asked him who then . 'He went mute when the SDO asked him the question. What was fished out to him was an advice to see how they will start negotiations with the victims and compensate them'. Furthered the victim. Mvogo Sylyac Marie promised to defend once more to New Bell Cemitiere on September 18, 2024 for an overall evaluation that would result to compensation to the victims by Mme Endelle. 'I can express the joy within me. Finally God has heard our prayers. It is wonderful to see an authority stand for the downtrodden in a land affair. God bless him.' Another victim said. The demolition victims happily left the premises of the SDO, imploring other authorities work in good faith like Mvogo Sylyac Marie and not siding with wealthy crooks for their selfish interests. As concerns the lawyer of Mme, Endelle, he left immediately after the meeting and wished not to make a comment. Source: Cameroon News Agency
