CSMJ aims to reduce pending up to 4.088 cases in 2025-2026

The president of the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSMJ), Bernardino Delgado, pointed Thursday as a goal, by the end of the judicial year 2025-2026, to reduce pending up to 4.088 cases, through the massification of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.

Bernardino Delgado made this prediction during the hearing at the Specialized Committee on Constitutional Affairs, Human Rights, Security and State Reform, as part of the parliamentary debate on the Justice sector, scheduled for October 28.

“Of course it is a prediction that may fail, but the idea is to work precisely with a defined objective in this time horizon, which is the strategic planning cycle we have already managed to introduce into the judiciary management”, explained the responsible adding that already instilled in the “mind of judges” a culture of results-based work.

For this year, in terms of pending proceedings, the goal was to place the pending ones in the order of 9.169 cases, a number that, according to Bernardino Delgado, was not achieved because the estimate for the cases brought numbered around 11.900.

“We were surprised by an increase in the number of cases lodged, but we were able to overcome the goal we had for the cases brought to a close this year,” he noted.
