The Minister of Justice, Joana Rosa, said Monday that the creation of the Council for the Prevention of Corruption is an important sign from the country as it is unique with a specific vocation to fight corruption.
Joana Rosa, who was speaking at the Opening Ceremony of the Conference “The Role of the Court of Auditors and the Council for the Prevention of Corruption in the fight against corruption”, in Praia, explained that for its full functioning, all the necessary conditions must be created.
“The mission of this body is anticipatory and complements other institutions in promoting and carrying out criminal actions”, he said, stressing that the fight against corruption, whether in its preventive or repressive aspect, is a huge challenge for democratic States.
The government official, who claims that the phenomenon of corruption potentiate social tensions, reduce the supply of services, facilitate organized crime and compromise the development of any democratic rule of law, defended that to prevent this from happening, it is necessary to improve the internal control systems, investing in the reinforcement of independence, autonomy and qualification of the competent institutions.
