City Hall of Praia honours Sifonelo Lopes for winning the gold medal in the Africa Championship

The City Hall of Praia awarded this Monday the boxer Sifonelo Lopes, gold medal in the ‘Africa Zone II Championship, with the “Certificate of Merit”, 100.000 escudos and committed to award him a social housing or plot of land for construction.

In a ceremony held in the Town Hall, attended by all Councilors, among other entities, the Mayor praised the importance of honoring this Cabo Verdean international, as he is City Hall’s worker, in recognition of the achievement achieved in the Zone II Africa Championship, held in Freetown (Sierra Leone), where Sifonelo Lopes won the gold medal in the 86 kilograms.

Francisco Carvalho took the opportunity to emphasize that this victory meets the policy designed by the City Hall he directs, aiming at the discovery of new talents, having justified this distinction because Sifonelo Borges fits perfectly in this process, for his “extraordinary performance”.

The Mayor of the capital congratulated the athlete for the performance and dedication to the sport, an opinion proven by the Councillor of Sport, Fernando Pinto, for whom sport as a phenomenon of social inclusion, appears as a factor of mobility, empowerment of the person and family.
