Chess player Kélim Santos is the new absolute individual regional champion of Santo Antão and is expected to represent the island in the national championship of the sport, scheduled next September, in São Vicente.
The podium of the competition was completed with André Mendes, second place, and Octavio Fontes, third place.
“This championship meant everything to me, I’m out of the word. It was a close competition and getting to the podium gives me more motivation to continue, since the path is forward”, praised Kélim Santos. According to Kélim Santos representing the island of Santo Antão in the absolute individual national championship will be a “huge” challenge, but ensures to be “fit” for this competition.
The absolute individual regional championship of Santo Antão was attended by seven chess players.
