“CapeBrazil wants to help Cape Verde develop infrastructure system of quality Verde may lag behind in relation to others small States”, Head of State

The President of the Republic warned this Monday “Cape Verde may lag behind in relation to others small States” and considered it essential to support the private sector, since the reduced size of the Cape Verdean economy harms competitiveness.

During the meeting with businessmen of Sotavento Chamber of Commerce, José Maria Neves said it was necessary to guarantee effective support for the densification of the Cape Verdean business sector.

The President of the Republic pointed to the reduced capacity for self-financing and indebtedness as the biggest constraints and called for greater sophistication of the investments already made in a number of areas to overcome the difficulties of a small State.

In order to deal with more complex situations in the country, the highest magistrate of the Nation said that “the best way for Cape Verde to increase the connectivity of its economy will necessarily have to be with the expansion of the market”, referencing the tourism, the exports and improving efficiency
