The museums in Cabo Verde, under the tutelage of the Ministry of Culture and Creative Industries, through the Institute of Cultural Heritage (IPC), received a total of 23,665 visitors in 2022.
According to an IPC publication, this figure exceeds the figure for the previous year with an increase of 179%, with foreign tourists being the main visitors, representing 61%.
The same source highlighted that the most visited museum was the Tarrafal Concentration Camp, with 38% of the visits.
The IPC also added that this increase reflects some of the actions implemented over the last few years, mainly in the implementation of a “new dynamic” of national museums, with the improvement of their positioning in the educational and tourist context, and even innovation at the level of contents.
