Cabo Verdean operators and companies can now register their trademark internationally

Economic operators and CaboVerdean companies can now register their trademark internationally and extend their services and products across borders, the president of the Institute for Quality Management and Intellectual Property announced on Thursday.

Ana Paula Spencer, who was speaking to the press this morning on the sidelines of the workshop on the “Madrid System and the Benefits of the International Trademark Registration”, revealed that Cabo Verde adhered to the Protocol on the Madrid Agreement this year.

According to her, the event results from the country’s entry to international treaties on industrial property administered by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and which entered into force on July 6 this year.

The same source explained that the Protocol Relating to the Madrid Agreemen refers to the international registration of trademark and since May have been working with WIPO technical support to implement this specific Protocol in order to contribute to the operationalization of this system in CaboVerde.
