Cabo Verde maintains institutional relations with other States regardless of preferences and sympathies – PR

The State of Cabo Verde maintains institutional relations with other States regardless of “our preferences or sympathies”, said today the President of the Republic when speaking on the election of Carlos Vila Nova for the presidency of Sao Tome and Principe.

Jorge Carlos Fonseca, who is visiting the Island of Fogo, said he was following, since dawn, the news about the presidential elections in Sao Tome and Principe, whose results, still provisional, indicate that the president-elect is Carlos Vila Nova.

“For Cabo Verdeans, an election in Sao Tome is always important, because it is a friendly, close country which shares with us institutions such as the CPLP and is a country where we have a large community and we follow with great interest and enthusiasm the electoral process,” said the PR.

The Head of State recalled that it is the choice of the people of São Tomé and Príncipe and Cabo Verde has not to approve, because “it is not us who make the choice”, he explained.
