Cabo Verde has never been in such a “favorable” situation in the fight against alcoholism – Manuel Faustino

The general coordinator of the “Less Alcohol More Life” programme, awarded Monday by the Government with the first Degree of the Medal of Professional Merit, said Cabo Verde has never been in such a “favorable” situation in the fight against alcoholism.

“We have a unique framework and I dare say if we take advantage of these potentialities, between three and five years, we are able to make a profound change in this framework still concern us,” said Manuel Faustino, before being awarded by the Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva.

He then underlined the gains of this program, highlighting the approval of the new Alcohol Law, which came into force on October 5, 2019, as one of the “milestones” in the fight against alcohol abuse.

Manuel Faustino also highlighted the enactment of the 2015 grogue production law, the implementation of the multisectoral strategic plan to combat alcoholism and the passage from the Commission for the Coordination of Combating Drugs (CCCD) to the Commission for the Coordination of Alcohol and Other Drugs (CCAD).
