Ouagadougou: The Woum-Taaba association recently organized a festival named “Seeg-Taba” aimed at promoting social cohesion and bolstering the resilience of the sons and daughters of the commune of Rollo. The event, held under the patronage of Pascal Kane, the director of Burkina Faso’s national television, focused on the theme “The challenge of social dialogue and social cohesion in indifference: What contribution can these daughters and sons make?”
According to Burkina Information Agency, the president of the Woum-Taaba association, Adama Wermi, emphasized the festival’s role in reuniting the dispersed community of Rollo, which has been affected by prevailing insecurity. Ms. Wermi highlighted that the 24-hour cultural and civic event provided a crucial platform for fostering social cohesion and resilience within the local community.
Ms. Wermi further explained the significance of the festival during its first edition in Ouagadougou, stressing that the theme is timely given Burkina Faso’s challenging histor
ical period. She pointed out that social dialogue is instrumental in building a prosperous and sustainable future for the nation. “Dialogue is a peaceful weapon. It allows us to listen, understand, and calm any conflict situation,” remarked Adama Wermi.
The head of the Woum-Taaba association expressed hopes for holding the second edition of the festival in Rollo, contingent on the return of peace to Burkina Faso. The festival’s patron, Pascal Kane, lauded the courage and unity of the Rollo community, reinforcing the importance of transforming adversity into opportunities for reunion and future preparation.
Additionally, His Majesty Naaba Tougri Tensoba of Pogoro applauded the initiative for its role in promoting peace and expressed his desire for its continuation for the well-being of the Rollo people. The event featured a conference on the theme, performances by artists, and a football match between the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP).

Seeg-Taba’ festival was co-sponsored by youth representative Gaetan Ouermi, with participation from the king of Loroum, His Majesty Naaba Baongho, marking a significant step towards unity and resilience for the Rollo community.
