Ouagadougou: The second edition of the week dedicated to providing psychosocial and spiritual support to the families of Defense and Security Forces members was held at the Naaba Koom II camp in Ouagadougou. The event was attended by Brigadier General Moussa Diallo, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the initiative aims to offer spaces for discussion, listening, comfort, and inner renewal to 144 families of fallen heroes, the wounded, and those missing in action. Nafisetou Guira, representing the families of the fallen, expressed gratitude to the authorities and the nation for the support extended to them. She emphasized the importance of the memory of their fathers, who were part of the Burkina Faso army, and pledged to honor their legacy through diligence in education.
Brigadier General Moussa Diallo highlighted the significance of solidarity and cohesion as essential values for the army. He emphasized the importance of providing psychosocial and spiritual support to families and the wounded, considering it a moral, social, and institutional duty. General Diallo announced a series of activities planned for the week, including the distribution of school kits to orphans, a conference for camp staff, visits to war-wounded personnel, and a day of prayer involving all religious denominations.
The commander of the Republican Guard, Souleymane Zango, noted that the special week was initiated to address the mental, emotional, and spiritual pressures faced by the defense and security forces. Despite being trained and equipped for challenging conditions, they remain human and require support to handle such pressures. General Diallo also commended the commitment of national authorities and support structures in providing dignified and sustainable care for families and the injured.
