Ouagadougou: The Burkinabe government has announced plans to construct 20 new Burkina Faso Post Office branches as part of a contract-plan with the State. This initiative aims to expand the postal network across the country.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Minister of Posts, Aminata Zerbo/Sabane, highlighted that the Contract-Plan approved by the council will facilitate the development of these new branches. Ms. Zerbo stated that both new and existing post offices will be transformed into community centers, known as ‘Zama Tche’ in the San language.
Ms. Zerbo/Sabane elaborated on the functionality of the new branches, which will include spaces to assist the public in accessing online government services. In addition to traditional postal and financial services, the branches will incorporate Postal Bank counters to offer a range of financial services.
Furthermore, she explained that these branches would enable citizens to access Faso Arzeka, a national service, as well as obtain nationality certificates and criminal record checks. The construction of these branches is estimated to cost over 5.5 billion FCFA, with 50% of the funding sourced from the Post Office’s own resources.
