Brava: Mayor calls for “urgent resolution” of transport problem

The mayor of Brava, Francisco Tavares, returned this Wednesday, asking for “an urgent resolution” of the problem of maritime transport to and from the island, which this week had “a tremendous setback”.

Speaking to Inforpress, Tavares stated that the prevailing feeling at that moment as a mayor and citizen of Brava is “very angry”, since the solution to the issue of maritime transport to and from Brava is “more complicated” every day and the solution is to “last a long time”.

According to the same source, this week the island has only one trip, noting that the boat left Brava on Monday 13, around 11:00 am, and the next scheduled trip is only on Sunday 19, which has been causing “great and inconvenient inconvenience to all”.

He also stressed that this is “a total cut in people’s right to come and go”, adding that there are people on Brava who came to work for a day or two and are unable to return, people with medical appointments in Fogo and Praia, but unable to arrive due to lack of ships.
