Boxing: David Pina wins gold medal in Portuguese Cup

Cabo Verdean international boxer David Pina, an Olympic scholarship winner based in Portugal, won the gold medal in the Portuguese Cup on Sunday for the Boxing Club Privilegio team.

In total, the Cabo Verdean international boxer’s club, the Privilegio Boxing Club, was the best elite men’s team of the tournament, with two gold medals, three silver and one bronze.

Olympic athlete, born in Santa Cruz (Santiago), David Pina, according to the Cabo Verdean Olympic Committee (COC), has excelled in the sport in the Portuguese lands, having already won several tournaments in Portugal.

Already last May, Pina had added to his resume another achievement, in the 2022 Tournament Rounds of Boxing, with gold in the category 54 kg. The boxer, who has represented Cabo Verdean boxing at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, has been an Olympic scholarship player since April 11, so he received a scholarship that will allow him to improve his training conditions, participate in international competitions, and prepare in the best possible way for qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games
