Boulkiemde: The meeting room of the regional transport directorate in Koudougou hosted the opening ceremony of the plenary restitution session of the results of the regional consultations on the land transport sub-sector on Thursday. The activity was officially launched by the High Commissioner of Boulkiemde province, Salimata Ouedraogo Sanou, representing the Governor of Nando region, Adama Jean Yves Bere.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the governor, through his representative, emphasized that land transport is crucial for the economic and social development of the country but is challenged by geographical, economic, social, and security issues, especially in the Nando region. The regional consultations, which were organized in preparation for the national general assembly, aimed to gather local stakeholders’ perspectives, identify challenges affecting the sub-sector, and propose concrete solutions tailored to local conditions.
The consultations resulted in key recommendations, including the professionalization of the sector, enhancing competitiveness, improving safety, and adopting technological innovations to ensure the sustainability of the land transport system. The governor praised the participants for their contributions and expressed hope that the restitution session would be a significant step towards developing a sustainable, efficient, and appropriate framework for land transport in the Nando region, thereby supporting the nation’s harmonious development.
The meeting will facilitate the collective validation of the recommendations from the regional consultations before they are forwarded to the national level.
