Boa Vista will have a green hydrogen and synthetic fuel plant budgeted at 11 million escudos

The City Hall of Boa Vista and Synthec Fuels GmbH signed this Monday a memorandum of understanding for the construction, within 18 to 24 months, of a green hydrogen and synthetic fuel Central, project that will cost 11 million escudos.

The document, signed by the mayor of Boa Vista, Claudino Mendonça, and by the representative of the German company Synthec Fuels GmbH, Eufemio Cascón Sáez, states that the “project will be totally self-sufficient and will use innovative technologies of the latest generation, including the transport/export, which are already operational on an industrial scale”.

The green hydrogen and synthetic fuel central will be built in an area close to the port of Sal Rei and the seafront, taking into account possible export needs and the production of desalinated water necessary for the production process.

According to the document, the construction of this plant and other derivative products aim to accelerate the implementation of national plans related to the Energy Transition and the COP26 Climate Goals (26th United Nations Conference on Climate Change) and will allow the export of green hydrogen to markets of the European Union.
