Bissa Gold Distributes 90 Tons of Corn to Internally Displaced Populations in Sabce

Bam: The mining company Bissa Gold handed over 90 tons of corn to the affected and internally displaced populations of the commune in Sabce on Friday. This initiative aims to support communities facing challenges due to the delayed harvest season and the influx of internally displaced individuals.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the mine’s community relations manager, Kayaba Kabore, emphasized the importance of this support during a crucial time. He stated, “We are at a time when the harvests are not yet ripe. We also know that the affected communities have hosted many internally displaced people. This is why we decided to take action to provide them with shelter while waiting for the harvest.”

Mr. Kabore further explained that this donation is part of a larger program by Bissa Gold. This year, the company plans to distribute 500 tons of food, valued at over 125 million CFA francs, across areas impacted by their operations. He attributed these efforts to the dedication of the mine’s leadership, including the country director and the general manager.

The prefect and president of the Sabce special delegation, Aristide Bado, expressed appreciation for the support, highlighting its timely nature and potential to provide relief to the affected households. He acknowledged the mining company’s ongoing solidarity initiatives.

Beneficiaries’ representative, Soumaila Sawadogo, conveyed gratitude to Bissa Gold and assured that the food would be used effectively and transparently within the community. He emphasized responsible usage to ensure maximum benefit for the households involved.
