Banwa Province Schools Reopen After Three-Year Closure


Banwa: Several schools are reopening their doors this school year, to the great delight of the population. The High Commissioner of Banwa Province, Sanfienale Joseph Sirima, accompanied by a delegation, visited two schools that opened this year after 3 years of closure to enable the children of the province to get back on track.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the High Commissioner and his delegation visited the schools of Bena A and B this Monday, October 13, 2025, to get a first-hand look at the realities on the ground and ensure the effectiveness of the start of the school year before continuing to the village of Ban located 20 km from Solenzo for the launch of the opening of schools closed for 3 years.

At Ban B and Ban A schools, the CP1 classes are overcrowded with students. According to the Banwa Provincial Director of Preschool, Primary, and Non-Formal Education, Pedro Blaise Coulibaly, all school-aged children are accepted. Those who are a little overage and who were not going to school due
to the security crisis are also accepted for this school year. He also provided an update on schools reopened after three years of closure thanks to Operation Green Whirlwind 2.

After visiting the classrooms filled with students, the delegation spoke with the population who had turned out in large numbers for the occasion. The High Commissioner called on the population to maintain good relations with teachers for the happiness and education of children.

“I entrust the teachers to you because they are the VDP of education, they have come to train our children so that they will be the future leaders of the country,” declared the High Commissioner, Sanfienale Joseph Sirima. He urged teachers to stop unnecessary quarrels, rival clans in schools and to change their behavior.

“We must teach children the values of our country, the vision of the government and the President of Faso, but also make these children patriots,” he concluded. The parents of the students have made a commitment to build classrooms to contr
ibute to the education of the children.
