Athletics: Samuel Freire breaks national record in the Half Marathon

Cape Verdean international Samuel Freire broke, this Sunday, the Cape Verdean half-marathon record, by setting a new record in the Moita Half Marathon (Portugal) with a time of 01 hour, 04 minutes and 59 seconds, updated today by Inforpress.

 

According to the Cape Verdean Athletics Federation, with this result, which dictated the victory of the Creole athlete in the Moita Half Marathon, Samuel Freire surpassed the record that belonged to the Cape Verdean athlete residing in the United States of America, Ruben Sança, which was 1.05.56 seconds.

 

Samuel Freire, an athlete residing in Portugal, and who now represents Vitória Clube de Setúbal (Victory Club of Setubal), returned to impose himself against the competitors, in his return to competition, after a period of stoppage due to injury.

 

Freire returned to competition in June and soon with a victory in the mythical mile of the Vault.
