AfroBasket 2021: Cabo Verde beats Rwanda (82-74) to qualify for quarter-finals

The men’s senior basketball team won the quarter-finals of AfroBasket after beating Rwanda 82-74, host country, in the third and final round of Group A.

The best scorers on the Cabo Verdean side were Joel Almeida and Fidel Mendonça with 16 points each, while the best rebounder was Walter Tavares with 14 rebounds.

In the group stage, the Cabo Verdean national team beat Angola 77-71 after extra time, and in the second round Cabo Verde lost 66-70 to the Democratic Republic of congo. Emanuel Trovoada’s pupils thus finished the group stage in first place, with five points, and were cleared for the quarter-finals.

In the same group, Rwanda was in second place, Angola in the third and Democratic Republic of Congo in the fourth and final position.
