UCID’s MP António Monteiro said today that the Cabo Verdean nation “is not well” and presents “very perverse symptoms of non-compliance” of the laws, considering the suspension of the mandate of Amadeu Oliveira an act of “deepest indignation”.
The MP of the Cabo Verdean Democratic and Independent Union (UCID, opposition party) made these statements when he intervened in the debate on the State of the Nation, and demanded clarification from the Government on this situation.
In his view, forcing in a “mean and with deep remnants of revenge” the suspension of the MP ‘s mandate, which, “at all costs”, the MpD through its parliamentary leader led in parliament leads his party to draw the conclusion that Amadeu Oliveira is so uncomfortable, that the MpD understood to “wage a crusade” to remove him from this Assembly and consequently have a quieter political life.
He considered in this sense that by not complying with the Constitution of the Republic and the Statute of MP and the Rules of Procedure, the National Assembly “commanded by the MpD” provided a “bad service” to the democratic rule of law, which, as he recalled, for 31 years have been seeking to build.
