The President of the Republic, Jorge Carlos Fonseca, ends his term with the promulgation of dozens laws, but has “some reservations” regarding certain articles of the Military Agreement (SOFA) signed with the United States of America.
According to a source in the Presidency of the Republic, the Cabo Verdean Head of State expressed with some friends that still today has “some reservations” in relation to certain articles of the SOFA he promulgated.
“There are agreements that I have ractified and I have some doubts about whether I should have promulgated them,” he said in a recent interview/review on the ten years of his term, but it is “normal” this happens to any holder of a political office for ten years, he said.
Asked how he would like to be remembered by Cabo Verdeans after his two terms, he said he had “truly held a presidency close to the people”, having contacted the Cabo Verdeans several times in all the municipalities of the country.
