The Specialized Committee on Constitutional Affairs, Human Rights, Security and State Reform of the National Assembly denied on Monday to give an opinion to repeal the Resolution No. 3/X/2021 of the Standing Committee authorizing the arrest of MP Amadeu Oliveira.
The Specialized Committee on Constitutional Affairs, Human Rights, Security and State Reform of the National Assembly met on Monday afternoon to, among others, consider the examining the Proposal for Resolution to repeal Resolution No. 3/X/2021 of the Standing Committee, presented by the MPs of the Independent and Democratic Cabo Verdean Union (UCID).
“Here there is not much to say. What was up to the Committee was already deliberate here and, it was also clear what was the Standing Committee of the National Assembly responsability and it was verified. Respecting the principle of separation of powers, we will not here analyze pronouncements or decisions coming from the courts. That’s what we have to say,” Commission President Cármen Martins told reporters at the end of the meeting.
She also said that in this case one cannot speak on nullity because “nullity is already a consequence of legally flawed, legally speaking”.
