The Underwater Trail of the Laginha Coral Cove, inaugurated this Saturday, is a “tool” of environmental education and “it is up to everyone to take care of it”, according to one of the promoters of the Initiative, Rui Freitas.
According to the same source the project that is already about a year old, and was designed to the similar of another trail he himself prepared in the Baia das Gatas in 2011, allowed to put into practice the know-how.
A “very participatory” process with people from various areas, which culminated in the placement of 16 plates characterizing the species of the coral cove, with an estimated route of 350 meters.
“It is an education tool and it is up to everyone to take care of it,” the biologist stressed, denouncing the signs as “indications of vandalism”, although the trail was placed 15 days ago. Guilherme Mascarenhas, another of the promoters, hopes the structure will be “another attractive signal” for more Mindelo citizens to be interested in the ocean.
