Sal Island: “All Cabo Verdeans have the right to a better life and live with dignity” – Government

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance considered this weekend in Sal that all Cabo Verdeans have the right to a better life and live with dignity, and the “great struggle” is to reduce extreme poverty in the country.

“All Cabo Verdeans have the right to a decent house, with access to water, energy, sewage network and a qualified and requalified neighborhood,” said Olavo Correia, who spoke in the Fonte Riba community, where he witnessed the inauguration of the network extension and home water connection, under the “Impacto: AGa Já Txiga” program, developed by the local authority.

Reiterating that the struggle for the dignity of the human person is a right that is attended to each one, Olavo Correia highlighted the work done in partnership between the City Hall of Sal, Government, Luxembourg Cooperation and UNDP, with the support of companies to allow today the Fonte Riba population to have access to drinking water.

“To be able to have a dignified, quality, healthy life. That’s why we’re investing in Sal Island. We have a program is being conceived, the so-called Operational Plan for Tourism, and we will invest in the most diverse areas: housing, accessibility, security, public lighting, health, and the qualification of human resources”, he said, noting that the Government does not want tents in the tourist islands.
