Portuguese national press satisfied with the works awarded the Arnaldo France Prize

The Editorial Director of the National Press (INCM – Portuguese Mint), Duarte Azinheira, was pleased Tuesday with the works were awarded the Arnaldo França Prize, pleading the role of the jury which had full independence in the choice.

Duarte Azinheira made this speech to the press, on the sidelines of the launch of the works distinguished with the Arnaldo França Prize, namely “Contos em Cabo Verde”, by Benvindo Semedo and “Sul 1”, by Jorge Silva.

As he explained, both works are in fact “very interesting and worthy of the award”, in a choice made by the jury, which had total independence. According to the person responsible, this award is based on the principles of INCM, which consists of safeguarding assets and given the relations with the Cabo Verde press, a number of prizes have been created in this sense.

He explained that INMC has in its statute a special mission to promote the Portuguese language, which aims to ensure that Portuguese texts of the best quality can be edited even when they are not economically profitable.
