The president of the African Independence Party of Cabo Verde (PAICV-Opposition party) said Monday that the crisis mitigation measures announced by the Government to support companies “have not come out of the speech” and the entrepreneurs want concrete action.
“From the information we had, the Government’s measures did not come out of the speech and entrepreneurs need practices and attitudes and not speeches. Speeches are good, they are important, the country needs them, but the country needs more than speech, it needs to practice actions in these aspects. The ads were really for the ads,” said Rui Semedo.
The PAICV’s leader, who spoke to the press moment after meeting with the Sotavento Chamber of Commerce (CCS), in preparation for the debate on the State of the Nation, which takes place on July 31, also said that, instead of a “suffocated sector”, he would speak of “a sector with difficulties” imposed by an “extremely difficult” context for all.
“I think in Cabo Verde it is fashionable to talk about many millions and, when we talk about these millions to the population, the idea with which one remains is that there is a lot of money and this money does not reach the recipient (…) for the population the millions pass over or pass too far, they do not reach the recipients who should benefit from these millions”, he stressed.
