The Minister of Justice promised Tuesday to take the ICIEG concerns, as to the speed of pending cases and specialized judges for VBG, to the Superior Council of the Judiciary.
“What we assure the president of ICIEG is that we will be in contact with the Superior Councils, and we will also be discussing with them the need for legislative measures can resolve situations that have to do with the creation of specialized judges or unfolding judges who can work to fill the pending cases,” she said.
Joana Rosa was speaking to the press after the meeting she held this morning with a team from the Cabo Verdean Institute for Gender Equality and Equity (ICIEG), headed by the president, Rosana Almeida, who took as points of debate the speed of legal proceedings and the proposal to create judges specialized in VBG.
According to the Minister of Justice, it was with great satisfaction she listened to ICIEG’s proposals, since Gender-Based Violence (VBG) is a social problem must be solved with the reduction of pending cases in the courts and public prosecutors’ offices.
