Government says the Council for the Prevention of Corruption will soon be implemented

The Government said on Tuesday in a statement sent to press that the Council for the Prevention of Corruption “will soon” be implemented and, among others, it has as a mission to detect and prevent the risks of corruption.

Other objectives, according to the same statement, are the collection and processing of information in order to identify the areas most vulnerable to the penetration of the phenomenon, the monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness of existing legal instruments, as well as the administrative measures adopted by the public administration and the corporate public sector in the fight against corruption.

This is information announced by the Government in reaction to the news that Cabo Verde maintains the 39th position and 58 points in the 2021 Corruption Perceptions Index, released today by the Transparency International organization, and which is the Best Ranked Portuguese-speaking African countries (PALOP) and second in the CPLP.

In the same statement, the Government recalls that it has taken on the VIII Constitutional Government Programme to strive to further improve this position in the certainty that low reputational risk is “an important asset” of trust in the relationship with investors, development partners and citizens.
