The mayor of Praia, Francisco Carvalho, assured this Sunday that the municipality will not fail in the transition from the Municipal Guard to the Municipal Police and the budget for this purpose already exists .
“I really want to emphasize this demonstration of an enormous will and availability on the part of the Minister of Internal Administration [to implement the Municipal Police in Praia] that really came to put the greatest shine in relation to this old claim of the Municipal Guard agents here in our municipality da Praia”, concluded the mayor.
Francisco Carvalho, who was speaking to the press on the sidelines of the celebrations of the 14th anniversary of the Praia Municipal Guard, also said that today is “a great day” because it is a path that has been taken for several years.
“The Minister guaranteed that the Government will present a a proposal law that will open a one-year window of opportunity for City Halls to take advantage of and be able to implement the transition. We cannot fail, we are not going to fail, we are going to take advantage of this year that has been granted so that we can achieve the transition from the Municipal Guard to the Municipal Police”, he said.
