A multidisciplinary team integrating several institutions is working to solve the child labour problem in Cabeça Fundão and Chã das Caldeiras, in the municipality of Santa Catarina do Fogo.
The mayor of Santa Catarina do Fogo, Alberto Nunes, told Inforpress that this institution met Wednesday with the coordination of the Natural Park of Fogo (PNF), the delegation of the Cabo Verdean Institute of Children and Adolescents (ICCA) and a young man from Chã das Caldeiras, to present and establish possible partnerships and collaboration to combat child labour at the entrance of the Natural Park of Fogo.
Alberto Nunes said that a young man from Chã das Caldeiras presented a proposal and with the involvement of other institutions, equally concerned about the situation, intend to find alternatives to get children out of this situation.
“With the assembly of the centers we will prohibit the sale of products on the street and thus create the conditions to get children out of this situation”, advocated the mayor of Santa Catarina do Fogo.
