Crises: Mitigation measures represent 8.8 billion escudos and more than 15% of the global budget – Government

The mitigation measures adopted by the Government to stabilize food prices, the electricity and fuel sector and extend the social pension of the non-contributory regime, represent a total of 8.8 billion.

That is, as announced Wednesday by Deputy Prime Minister Olavo Correia, by the end of the year, Cabo Verde is expected to spend more than 15% of the 2022 Global Budget and more than 5% of national wealth.

“We have so far engaged and committed, in terms of public policy measures in these sectors, more than 50% of this amount referred to. That is, a revenue of more than 4 billion escudos committed from the point of view of Government intervention”, said the Minister.

At a press conference held Wednesday to take stock of the implementation of the crisis mitigation measures adopted by the Executive, Olavo Correia reaffirmed that these measures are being implemented since March at various levels from the point of view of Government intervention in the economy, energy and agri-food sectors, sectors that were the most impacted by this triple crisis.
