The Prime Minister declared, in the city of Praia, the end of the contingency state for the alert situation, due to the “improvement of the main indicators” internationally defined in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Based on the positive evolution of the epidemiological situation and vaccination, the Government declares the end of the contingency situation to the alert situation throughout the territory,” said Ulisses Correia e Silva, pointing out that there is a trend of “stabilization” of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
In a statement addressed to the country, taking into account the current data of COVID-19, the head of the Government warned for the new coronavirus has not yet disappeared, the relief of restrictions requires the maintenance of prevention and containment measures, in particular in the use of face masks and the sanitization of hands by citizens.
In this sense, he pointed out that it is necessary to continue the vaccination effort, both in the first and in the second dose, as well as the strengthening of actions in the municipalities of Santa Catarina, Tarrafal and São Salvador do Mundo, which have “a vaccination rate still lower than 70 percent (%)”.
