Cabo Verde has already renewed its mandate as a member of the Executive Council of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) for the period 2022-2025, said the Minister of Tourism and Transport, Carlos Santos.
This is for now one of the results from the 64th meeting of the UNWTO Regional Commissions in Africa, held this Thursday in Sal Island, a decision will be presented at the meeting of the General Assembly of the United Nations World Tourism Organization, to be held later this year in Marrakesh, according to the Minister.
“Cabo Verde has renewed its mandate for the next four years on the executive board. For us it is a good result because it means that the country continues to make its contribution to this great body which deals with tourism, which is the main sector of this country and it represents almost 1/5 of what is our Gross Domestic Product”, he said.
The Executive Council, the UNWTO Executive Board, has the main task monitoring and carrying out the actions undertaken by this tourism-oriented organization, setting the general guidelines, following the implementation of the biannual work programme and monitoring the budgetary framework.
